At 9 a.m. we boarded the Marko Polo, one of Split's towering ferry boats, and headed out to Hvar Island, two hours offshore. The ferry costs 70 kuna, or about $16, round-trip and provides passengers with a stunning view of the city of Split and the mountain ridge that runs along the city's eastern edge.
