Like the other Mexican cities we've been to, Oaxaca's zocalo (main square) is the heart of the city. In Oaxaca, numerous restaurants line the sides of the square, providing for some vibrant night life. The square itself is a leafy, well tended set of large trees and lush gardens. Better yet, there's nothing in the way off traffic, providing for a safe location to amble about.
