We arrived at the finca (plantation) which is now owned cooperatively by the forty families that once worked under the main owner. They created the Nueva Alianza labor union, which officially took control of the farm after the owner stopped paying his workers. Eventually, the farm was taken over by a bank, and the locals were given ownership and a loan to reestablish the finca.
