After spending the morning enjoying the great beach weather we hopped on a bus and headed out to the western edge of Rio to visit local Samba Soul legend Hyldon. Heavily influenced by American R&B artists like Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, Hyldon is one of the original pioneers of Brazil's Samba Soul movement, a style of music that blends syncopated Brazilian rhythms with the smooth vocals of classic American Soul music. Hyldon found success in Brazil in 1975 with a string of hit singles, dominating the charts, from his debut solo album "Na Rua, Na Chuva, Na Fazenda," shown here.
