On Saturday afternoon we visited Brazilian hip-hop artist, filmmaker, and author MV Bill in the neighborhood where he was raised and still lives today, Cidade de Deus (City of God). Bill's initials stand for "Mensageiro da Verdade" (Messenger of Truth). Through various mediums, be it music, film, or literature, his work centers around the struggle of poor blacks in Brazil and the nation's widespread issues: racism, poverty, and violence.
