Many of the class's students are simultaneously studying or have, in the past, studied other styles of dance such as ballet, and this experience was reflected in the varying postures seen around the dance studio. We met one student, Teresa, a former ballerina, who has come all the way from Portugal to study capoeira and West African dance here in Salvador. She is currently working on a master's degree in dance at the Federal University of Bahia.
