Professor Marcos's teaching style is rich with folklore and anecdotes. He asks the class to envision a wild animal waking up from a long slumber, stretching, reaching, and twisting its arms, legs, and spine. He then has his students emulate these movements. Much of capoeira's central choreography, he explains, is derived from the movements of animals.
