The statue has a small room in its base where religious baptisms and weddings can be held, but most people visiting the statue are more interested in snapping a picture of themselves in the statue's famous "open arms" pose. In the half hour we spent at the statue, we probably saw more than 50 people mimicking the iconic stance for the camera.
