The Kenyatta International Conference Center, named after the nation's first president, Jomo Kenyatta, and the adjacent KANU tower are the signature architectural landmarks of the city. Kenyatta could be best described as Kenya's George Washington in the sense that if there is any iconic figure the country associates with, it's him. His name and likeness are a mainstay on all the denominations of local currency, and seemingly every town has a street named after him. The fact that the country's first president shared a good bit of his last name with his country was merely a lucky coincidence.
