Africa, and particularly Kenya's Rift Valley (not to far west of Nairobi), is thought of as the cradle of modern humans. Fossil evidence found in this region points to important evolutionary links between Homo sapiens and apes. This sculpture at the entrance of Nairobi National Museum makes reference to Africa's place as the epicenter of the birth of our species.
