Reggio Emilia is a relatively affluent city and its downtown shopping district features upscale boutiques, chic cafes, and fine restaurants. The city has, in recent years, experienced an influx of immigrants, primarily from Eastern Europe and China, and the ethnic make up of Reggio Emilia is visibly more diverse than that of bigger Italian cities that we've visited like Rome and Bologna.
