Sofia, Bulgaria

Formerly under the domain of the Ottoman Empire of Turkey, Bulgaria's cuisine is still influenced by its neighbor to the east. Baklava is a delicious pastry comprised of thin layers of pastry dough, with honey and crushed nuts sandwiched in between.
