Just east of the Temple of Jupiter is the Temple of Bacchus. Historians believe that the temple was originally dedicated to Venus and some have painted the ancient city of Baalbek as the Roman capital of hedonism, where wine drinking, dancing, and sex were frequently celebrated activities.
