On their way to the celebrations, hundreds of Lebanese stopped by the memorial of assassinated prime minister Rafik Hariri who was killed in a massive car bomb in 2006. Despite being nearly two years removed from the event, posters sporting the face of the bushy-browed billionaire turned politician can be found throughout the city.
