As the plane broke through a low cloud cover we got our first glimpse of Mumbai (formerly Bombay). Immediately the stories we'd heard about the huge city's overpopulation issues became glaringly apparent. As the powerhouse of the Indian economy, Mumbai has attracted migrants from across the subcontinent who come to the giant city seeking jobs and a piece of the city's wealth.
