After a bit of wandering around the frenetic streets of Ahmedabad's old city, we sought tranquility in one of the area's mosques. The Jami Masjid mosque was completed in 1424 and is known for the hundreds of impressive pillars that support the domed prayer area. Inside we found a number of people resting in the shade or napping on mats underneath the mosque's domes. Here, a man prays among the maze of pillars.
