Even without stopping at Kumbalgarh or Ranakpur the ride through Rajasthan's hinterland is non-stop action. Camel caravans and roadside markets dot the mostly arid landscape. The road is narrow and heavily traveled by trucks carrying supplies from outlying areas to Rajasthani cities. On numerous occasions our driver faced oncoming trucks in both lanes when one truck would attempt to pass a slower truck in front of it. Almost eight hours of travel and never a dull moment.
