Thushan was back on his feet and we'd scheduled a train for the evening. So, we decided to use our one real day in Bangkok to see what has been touted as the greatest spectacle in the capital, the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew (the Temple of the Emerald Buddha) which is housed on its grounds. The word "wat" is synonymous with temple in Thailand, and while tuk tuks and tributes to the king may outnumber them, it can't be by much.
