At the Bangkok's city center sits Siam Square, a commercial crossroads of movie theaters, giant malls, and frenzied consumers basking in the glory of some of Southeast Asia's best shopping. The crown jewel of Siam Square is the recently minted Siam Paragon shopping center, which opened in 2005. The huge mall is one of the biggest in Southeast Asia and houses thousands of stores, 15 movie theaters, a bowling alley, an opera house, and, in its basement, the largest aquarium in Southeast Asia.
