Though we love boat rides, our itinerary had us heading north to the city of Luang Namtha by bus. It's a shame that we didn't get to spend another 15 hours in that canoe. Upon arrival on the other side of the river, our boat was pulled onto land and we headed into the border patrol office to fill out the paperwork necessary to be granted Lao visas on the spot.
