The mid-country city of Vang Vieng has become a particularly strong sweet spot for backpackers in Laos. Though we didn't make it down there (a full day's bus ride just didn't seem appealing), the biggest draw to the town is taking a ride down the local river on an inner-tube, with Beerlao hanging off the tube's side while you look up at the massive limestone cliffs that line the river's sides.
