3: Take it easy in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala
This city might have been designed just for one purpose: taking it easy. Guatemala's second largest metropolis feels like little more than a big town, and we doubt that the locals would want it any other way. Guest houses abound, perfect for feeling right at home on the road. And for about $30 for your own room - for a whole week - it's one of the best deals we've come across.
